Google investing in Wind Power transmission grid

Google is providing development stage funding for the Atlantic Wind Connection (AWC) transmission backbone to connect offshore Wind farms to the US grid. Its projected carrying capacity, 6,000 MW.

Google’s small investment will help accelerate the buildout of a grid for the offshore Wind Energy.

This initiative will have a large impact similar to the Google Automated Cars project.
