Bacteria’s ongoing Chemical War

Bacteria’s engage in constant chemical war with other bacteria’s to survive.

UNC researchers find that bacteria’s produce a killer protein on their surface that harms other bacterias and a protective protein for themselves at the same time. Bacteria’s can have multiple killer proteins in their arsenal and also acquire proteins from other bacterias.

A colorful analogy to video games is at UNC’s website.

The research has obvious implications for human health.
