How to Measure Data Usage on Verizon 4G LTE Internet

So you signed up for the awesome Verizon 4G LTE Internet service, the fastest Mobile Internet in the US. But the service’s Data usage costs are high and uncapped. Keep reading to find how to measure your Data usage on Verizon 4G LTE Internet and keep your costs under control.

The fastest mobile Internet service in the US comes at a high price. Verizon 4G charges $10 per GB with a minimum spend of $50 (for 5 GB of data). This can mean that you could spend $50 per hour to use the service or spend $50 per movie (to download a HD movie from NetFlix). To keep track of your usage (and control the costs), use a tool to measure your Data usage.

Networx from SoftPerfect is a free and simple tool to measure Data usage for your Windows PC’s. Download and install to start use immediately. Networx not only displays your total Data usage (received and sent) by time periods but also displays your connection speed (download, upload) in real-time. You can use it to keep track of your Data usage of your Verizon 4G connection.

Networx, by default, measures all Data usage over the network. If you happen to use both Verizon 4G and WiFi for your Internet, it will give a sum total of all the usage. However, you can set Networx to measure Data usage on just the Verizon 4G connection  - screenshot below

* Right-click the Networx icon and select ‘settings’
* In ‘Monitored Interfaces’ select ‘Verizon 4G’

Another such tool is Netflow Analyzer from ManageEngine.

When Verizon provides unlimited data plans, watching your Data usage like a hawk will not be necessary. Until then …
