When you share YouTube video via email or by embedding on a webpage, often you’d like to have people go to the point of interest directly, rather than watching the video from the start or having them scroll through, which raises the question that while sharing, how to start YouTube videos at specific time?

When sharing via email, if you’d like to take the viewer directly to Hawaii which is at 34 seconds from start, add a    #at=34    at the end of the URL i.e.

Note: the time has to be specified in seconds. There could be a 2 seconds error as the player starts playing from the nearest keyframe, which could be within 2 seconds of the time specified.

To embed this video on a webpage so it takes the viewer to Hawaii directly at 34 seconds. First, get the embed html code by clicking on    Share > Embed    at the videos page on YouTube. The source embed code for this video is

<iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/h68UJaHvG_c?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Replace    rel=0    to    start=34    i.e.

<iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/h68UJaHvG_c?start=34" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

That is all there is to it.

In the YouTube embed below, due to page size limitations, the YouTube video has been resized to 512x321. The embed code used is
