Ion Proton Sequencer, Desktop Genome Sequencing

Ion Proton Sequencer, desktop genome sequencing from Life Technologies.

Ion Proton Ad

Genome sequencing keeps getting better with faster sequencers from Illumina and Life.

Exciting times!

Ion Proton is the latest bump-up in sequencing speed and bump-down in sequencing costs. With Proton, sequencing cost is expected to be $1,000 per genome.

And, Life is actively marketing the Proton as can be seen in the ad above.

The marketing would be a lot better if Life did not use 3 brands to market the same sequencer – Life, Ion Torrent and Invitrogen.
