James Dyson: Make engineering education free in UK.
James Dyson who innovated hand dryers (touch-less), vacuum cleaners (bag-free) and fans (blade-less) with fluid mechanics principles argues that engineering education should be free.
James Dyson in Guardian
James Dyson has urged the government to create a generation of manufacturing entrepreneurs by waiving tuition fees for science and engineering undergraduates, while paying the brightest students £40,000 a year to continue their research at a postgraduate level.
And
Engineering undergraduates should not be charged fees. They should receive grants, not student loans, and the government will get the money back long-term from increased exports.
Meanwhile in the US, Student Loans are Shale Oil for Debt Collectors but there are also great initiatives underway with high-quality, free online courses.
